Council approves 5th Street closure for Aug. 9 Back-to-School Dance

The Altamont Recreation Commission requested a temporary road closure on 5th Street from Huston East to the alley to host a Back-to-School Dance behind the police department on Friday, Aug. 9. Councilmember Colt Booth moved and Ben Cochran seconded to close the street on Aug. 9 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM; the motion carried.
The communications section of the minutes also lists a Back-to-School swimming party on Aug. 10. The council did not attach conditions to the street closure in the minutes; event organizers are to follow city procedures for closures and safety.
