Altamont council approves 2025 budget and votes to exceed revenue-neutral tax rate

The Altamont City Council on Aug. 22 approved the city's 2025 budget and passed Resolution 300, authorizing a property-tax levy greater than the revenue-neutral rate. Councilmember Ben Cochran moved to approve Resolution 300, Tyler Julich seconded, and the motion carried with Julich, Cochran, Lyle Sykes and Kyle Wiford voting in favor.
City Administrator LeaAnn Myers told the council a lease-purchase term on a contract had been incorrect and that the item was updated before the vote; no council questions or public concerns were raised during the prior revenue-neutral-rate hearing. Councilmember Cochran later moved (seconded by Sykes) to approve the 2025 budget; that motion carried as well. The actions on Aug. 22 complete the council's formal adoption of the 2025 budget and the associated tax-rate decision for the coming year.
