Senate waives readings of journal, committee reports and bill titles
Summary
To expedite business, senators voted by voice to dispense with the reading of the journal, committee reports, and titles of bills and resolutions.
Senators moved and approved routine procedural waivers early in the session to speed consideration of calendar business. One senator said, "I move to dispense for the reading of the journal," and the Senate approved the motion by voice vote.
Later, the Senate also dispensed with the reading of committee reports and of bill and resolution titles; each action was approved by the chamber with members responding "aye" and the clerk stating, "The ayes have it." These unanimous or voice votes allowed the body to proceed quickly to introductions, presentations and calendar items.
