City staff outlines new online permitting and citizen-services software; go-live set for Jan. 28

Staff reported the new permitting and citizen-facing software is scheduled to go live Jan. 28, 2025. The system will allow online permit and business license applications, payments, inspection tracking and an app for citizen reports. Staff said the finances module is already live and that the utility-billing module (which may enable online changes such as adding a trash can) is scheduled afterward, with the utility module expected near the end of February.
Staff described a phased approach: modules go live in sequence, contractors and users will be asked to test and give feedback, and staff will schedule sessions for contractors to ask implementation questions. Staff also referenced an earlier local water outage and said the platform will include notification functionality to inform residents. A meeting participant cautioned that contractors will likely push back during the transition; staff said they will provide support during the change.
