Committee approves $24,500 professional services agreement for Valley Heights water study

City Engineer Scott Lang told the committee that a memorandum of understanding approved in December set the framework for Valley Heights to fund an engineering study. Lang recommended Advanced Engineering Environmental Services LLC (AES) perform the work; AES will examine the water system, storage and pump needs so the city and Valley Heights can seek funding from the state Department of Natural Resources.
"They were gonna pay up to $25,000 and I believe a 2 s is $24.05," Lang said (transcript reflects conversation about a $24,500 fee). The committee moved to approve the professional services agreement with Advanced Engineering Environmental Services LLC for $24,500 to conduct a water study in Valley Heights Estates and forward the agreement to a future City Council meeting with a recommendation of approval. The motion carried by voice vote.
Staff clarified the city is acting as a conduit for funds Valley Heights will provide to secure state funding and that no city funds will be spent on the study itself.
