Committee backs SDDOT bridge inspection participation, recommends Bros Engineering

City Engineer Scott Lang described the city's routine participation in the South Dakota Department of Transportation bridge inspection program and recommended approval for 2025 participation and for SDDOT to hire a bridge inspection engineer on the city's behalf.
Lang said the state pays 80% of the inspection cost and recommended authorizing SDDOT to hire Bros Engineering to serve as the city's bridge inspector. "This is a routine measure. We do this each year," Lang said. The committee moved to approve Resolution 25-10 and voted to forward it to a future City Council meeting with a recommendation of approval.
The item keeps the city's bridges on a three-year rotating inspection cycle (with one higher-frequency bridge inspected annually) and preserves cost-sharing with SDDOT.
