Bruce Martin, public works director, said the City of Box Elder and Tallgrass Landscape Architecture developed a comprehensive tree planting plan that identifies planting locations, species and a phased approach to implementation. Martin noted the park board adopted the plan in August 2024 and staff are bringing it to the committee for adoption with no immediate budgetary impact.
Martin said municipal code changes (chapter 34) will be needed to align the code with the plan and that those will be brought forward in the near future. The committee moved, seconded and approved adopting the tree planting plan and forwarding the recommendation to the city council.
