Staff explains teacher certification acronyms: EEL, BEL, INT and SOE

A committee member raised questions about unfamiliar certification acronyms in the personnel packet. Mr. Baus explained the terms: "EEL is experienced educator license," typically obtained after a second renewal cycle (about the sixth year); "BEL stands for beginning educator license" for earlier-career educators; "INT is intern authorization license" used in the pathway replacing alt-4; and "SOE stands for statement of eligibility," which leads into the intern authorization and eventual BEL.
Baus said the alt-4 pathway "kinda went away and turned into the statement of eligibility pathway," and that the district adjusted how it lists candidates in the packet to show who is on which license type. He offered to follow up on any remaining certification questions outside the meeting.
