Jefferson Environmental Center invites families to 4th annual Hummingbird Festival on Aug. 22

Diane Crony Turner of the Jefferson Environmental Center told the Hopkinsville City Council the center will host its 4th annual Hummingbird Festival on Saturday, Aug. 22 at Jeffers Bend. Turner described the event as a free, family-oriented program that will include professional bird banding demonstrations, a children's poster contest, native-plant sales and snacks.
"If you're not doing anything on Saturday, August 22, come out and be with us at Jeffers Bend," Turner said, noting the event is the center's single free public event of the year. She described educational activities — measuring and weighing birds, attaching bands to allow later tracking — and said the festival offers opportunities to learn about hummingbirds and native plants.
Turner asked the council and public to help promote the event; no formal city action was requested during public comment.
