Senator Williams introduced a bill to expand a standing partnership between the county consolidated school district and Mississippi State University so that funds currently mixed for 6th–7th grade facilities can also be used to construct a new high school. "We're just expanding that to include the high school," Williams said, adding the change would simplify construction funding decisions.
The sponsor said the bill adds sections to existing statute to broaden eligibility and noted the districts must still "mutually agree" on how funds are used — for example, whether money goes toward architectural work or construction.
