Council staff described Recommendation 5.c and 5.d, which update transitway and station designations in the Master Plan to reflect MCDOT planning.
Recommendation 5.c would remove three transitways (the Intercounty Connector Transitway, Metro Access Road and a North Bethesda Tuckerman alternate) and would add transitways on Castle Boulevard (US 29) and in White Oak to improve access to the FDA site. Recommendation 5.d would update station locations on Maryland 355 BRT (adding nine and removing eight), add five stations on US 29 and add eastbound and westbound stations at Robindale Drive on the Veirs Mill BRT alignment. Planning staff said these changes reflect MCDOT corridor and station design work and recommended concurrence.
Committee members agreed staff should continue to coordinate with MCDOT and other agencies on station alignment and operational details before full council adoption.
