The Atchison City Commission voted to adopt Ordinance 6725, vacating an unconstructed portion of Kearney Street near Washington Street and reserving existing and future public utility easements. Clinton McNamee described the segment as "probably 100 to 200 feet" of platted but never improved roadway that adjoining property owners asked to have vacated and tied to their parcels.
Commissioners asked whether public access and utilities would be preserved; staff answered that Section 1 of the ordinance reserves easements "existing and hereafter to be installed for public utilities." After a roll-call vote the mayor declared the ordinance adopted.
