Timber Days committee donates picnic tables; council agrees to summer placement and storage

Carrolle Wood, a Timber Days Committee member, told the council the group would donate ten interchangeable picnic-table/bench pieces (five assembled tables) for use in City Park. The council discussed storage and maintenance concerns and approved accepting five of the pieces to install two to three in River Street Park this summer and store the remainder in the Maintenance Garage.
Clerk/Treasurer Dawn Kehoe warned the council that “the Maintenance Department would be the ones impacted” and noted Maintenance Supervisor Lilya’s concern about limited staffing (two people). Councilor Ivette Reing said the committee’s offer to move and maintain the pieces would reduce the city’s burden, and the motion to accept the donation carried unanimously. The council formally thanked the Timber Days Committee for the gift.
