The Deerwood City Council approved a resolution declaring the mayor's office vacant and subsequently appointed Council Member Jeremy Millsop as mayor during its April 6 meeting.
Resolution 2026-09, approving the declaration of a mayor vacancy, passed on a 4-0 vote. Later in the meeting Member Aulie announced a medical diagnosis and said he will not finish his term, notifying the council he will submit a resignation effective December 31; he said his seat will be included in a special election held concurrently with the regular election. Member Ingersoll moved to appoint Jeremy Millsop as mayor; Member Voller seconded and the appointment carried unanimously.
The council scheduled a special meeting on April 13, 2026. The city clerk will be responsible for any procedural filings related to the vacancy and the special election timetable.
