County cites easement and agricultural access issues as causes of localized broadband delays
Summary
David Sadler said the broadband build has faced minor delays from property access/easement issues and agricultural field access restrictions; the county is sequencing work around fields and warned some property owners could be removed from the grant if they refuse permission.

David Sadler told the advisory committee that property access and easement issues, plus agricultural restrictions that limit field access during planting season, have produced some localized delays. "Property access due to easement issues as well as agricultural restrictions prohibiting access, to fields during the planting season," he said, and county crews are building around agricultural areas to minimize work stoppages.
Sadler said unfinished private drives are currently not eligible for construction under the grant and that owners who do not respond or who refuse permission "will be removed from the grant and may bear the future cost construction if they choose later to take service." He said DHCD granted a six-month extension to allow the project to complete long-drive connections and that residents on long private drives have been sent letters with contact information.
