Staff highlighted that city events are driving increased parking usage and longer dwell times that benefit downtown businesses. Anna Beralt, the city's event coordinator, said the June Sono Saturday market produced a roughly 66% increase in parking compared with the previous Saturday and noted the River Street Sunset Bazaar showed a 4% increase.
Anna also described marketing efforts that include influencer partnerships and a "From Norwalk with Love" campaign, which staff said generated over 100,000 impressions across social platforms and includes transit advertising on Metro-North trains. "This is the first year we're really partnering with influencers," Anna said, and staff plans additional content promoting Wall Street and Yankee Doodle Garage district activity.
