Robertson told the conference that middle-school math performance has declined sharply in recent years and said central office has a group working on 'what middle schools look like' going forward. He said the division must implement new supports with fidelity to reverse a roughly 23-point decline and improve students' outcomes.
The superintendent called for principals and assistant principals to prepare for a changed "game" in middle-school instruction and stressed that interventions must be tailored by school. "Our middle school math scores, 23 percentage point dip in the last five years," he said, "we need to do some things differently."
