Suzanne Carlson, Public Transportation Division administrator, presented the Oregon Community Paths awards: the 2025–26 round used $61 million in federal funds (10.27% match) to support 12 construction grants and 12 project refinement awards focused on multi‑use paths, safe crossings and regional trail links. The Oregon Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee unanimously recommended the prioritized list that staff will forward for STIP amendments where needed.
Carlson highlighted completed successes from prior rounds (Reedsville Trail, Madras connections, Gold Beach paved paths) and said ODOT will deliver many projects through its certified‑agency process; some applicants such as The Street Trust will act as project sponsors while ODOT manages delivery. Commissioners asked about ongoing maintenance responsibility (typically the local sponsor) and funding disbursement (most federal projects delivered by ODOT use reimbursement rather than upfront disbursement). Staff said outreach will continue to underserved regions to broaden geographic participation in future rounds.
The commission will act on STIP amendments in a subsequent agenda item to program selected projects into the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program and proceed with delivery for projects ready for kickoff.
