ODOT director thanked as he prepares to step down; commission pledges continuity

The Oregon Transportation Commission opened its Nov. 13 meeting by announcing Director Strickler’s resignation and thanking him for six years of service and leadership.
Chair Brown (S2) told staff the commission “has your back” and said the governor’s office will work on a replacement; commissioners praised the director’s handling of pandemic-related disruptions, supply-chain issues, and complex policy choices created by House Bill 2017. Vice Chair Beyer (S3) said the director “showed great leadership” through wildfire recovery and the pandemic, noting many HB 2017 projects came in ahead of schedule and under budget outside the metro area. In response, Director Chris Dricker (S10) credited staff and contractors and said he has confidence in the agency’s ability to continue delivery while an interim leads operations.
The exchange set a tone of continuity: commissioners emphasized staff stability and said they would continue work on major programs and projects during the leadership transition.
