Officials flag transportation reauthorization and housing bill as federal priorities

During the briefing, GA highlighted that surface transportation reauthorization and housing legislation are top federal priorities. Basurto said Congress may use a continuing resolution for FY27 and that the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee passed a Build America-style surface reauthorization overwhelmingly in committee. "The house released their Build America 250 Act...the house infrastructure committee passed the bill overwhelmingly with a vote of 62 to 2," Basurto said.
Basurto added that the Road to Housing Act passed the House in May and was at the Senate for concurrence. Council members asked staff to continue tracking programs such as Safe Streets for All and the Surface Transportation Block Grant, and to share opportunities where San Antonio could apply for funding.
