City officials report $174 million in competitive grants; staff outline grant process

Sally Basurto told council that, through proactive efforts and coordination with departments and consultants, the city has secured over $174,000,000 in competitive grants and submitted 15 applications in 2025. "The data of the received grants speaks for itself...we brought in over a $174,000,000," Basurto said, and she thanked city grant teams for retaining funds through a slow federal rollout.
Basurto described GA's grant managers hub (launched 2024) to support pre-award and post-award work and requested continued department engagement. Councilwoman Kaur asked for advance opportunities to weigh in on NOFAs such as Safe Streets for All so council can provide input on submissions; she said she had been too late to provide input on a recent NOFA and sought earlier notice.
