The director also said the center has funds on hand, noting "I have in my checking ... $273,000" and "I have $55,000" in savings, while also calling out two $10,000 reserves (a "rainy day" fund and a capital fund).
Board Chair Joe Williams encouraged pursuing the grant application. "Let's go for it," he said during the discussion, after members said they could attempt the state grant application despite its competitive, time-consuming review process. The board moved and seconded a motion related to the agenda item and members voted in favor to proceed with the matter under discussion.
Next steps discussed included completing and submitting the state Recycling Market Development Grant application by the stated deadline and circulating a letter that requires signatures as part of the commitment paperwork.
