Chair Jim Marshall outlined the near-term engagement and decision calendar: ranked‑choice community polling on Aug. 4 (Tuesday) and Aug. 9 (Sunday) at Hall Memorial School Library, an SBC recommendation at the Aug. 10 meeting, a community conversation in early September, a public hearing on Sept. 8 and a funding referendum tentatively scheduled for Sept. 29.
The committee described eligibility for the preference polling: anyone registered to vote in Willington may participate, and property owners with assessments above $1,000 may also be eligible; participants will be checked against the same list used for a town meeting. Mike (a selectman) emphasized outreach and clarity on eligibility, and committee staff said mailers and online postings with the materials will be sent in the coming days. "We are targeting a referendum date on September 29," Marshall told attendees.
The SBC asked residents to participate in the polling and noted alternative input methods (email submissions) for those unable to attend in person; the committee said those inputs would still inform its Aug. 10 recommendation but might not be tabulated in the preference dataset.
