Commissioners review public-records fee changes; potential extra charges for out-of-state requests

"There's so the law change on July 1 did both of these changes," said the staff member (S8). "So I think this helps prioritize it." Staff described a proposed charge for out-of-state residents of 25 cents per page and $25 per hour in addition to existing fees; the ordinance also allows the county to set up a portal for request management.
A motion to move the ordinance was made and seconded; the board approved the motion by voice vote. Staff said implementing a portal would require additional setup (captcha, user verification) and that the change is intended to help manage increased volume and identify malicious requests.
