City staff told the Junta de Gobierno that a rezoning application filed May 10 seeks to resolve discrepancies in zoning for an area that contains duplexes and single-family homes. Tomás Samín, director of the Department of Development Services, said the recommendation is to adopt a resolution initiating a rezoning study, prepare amendment plans and bring nonconforming parcels into compliance.
“Se recomienda que se pueda enviar a la sesión A para la resolución de iniciar la resonificación de esa área, y después que se tengan los planes de enmienda a futura,” Samín said. Council moved the item forward by voice vote to allow technical review and subsequent planning steps. Staff and councillors noted the action begins the study process and does not by itself change zoning; any final rezoning would return to the council after required reviews and hearings.
