Council authorizes easements for Howard–San Miguel transmission project
Summary
The council approved an ordinance allowing CPS Energy to acquire permanent transmission easements and temporary construction easements for the Howard–San Miguel transmission line project extending south toward Pleasanton; the motion carried after a motion and second.
City Council approved an ordinance to authorize the acquisition of transmission easements, including 120 permanent electric transmission easements, 35 temporary construction easements and 17 access easements, for the Howard–San Miguel transmission line project on June 11.
The city clerk read the ordinance caption describing affected tracts in Bexar and Atascosa counties, beginning at the Howard Substation and following State Highway 16 to an endpoint north of Pleasanton. Council member Munguia moved to authorize the use of eminent domain on behalf of CPS Energy to acquire the necessary rights-of-way; a second was recorded and the mayor announced the motion carried.
Council members did not receive public speakers on the item and approved the ordinance as presented.
