"Now, therefore, I, Gina Ortiz Jones, proud Filipina, mayor of the city of San Antonio, in recognition thereof, do hereby proclaim 06/12/2026 to be Philippine Independence Day in San Antonio, Texas," the mayor said as she presented the proclamation.
Chanel Raimondo, regent chair of the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce, Greater San Antonio, told the council the Filipino community is "woven into the foundation of this city," outlined local celebrations (including a proclamation event at Sarisari and a June 12 film premiere), and encouraged broad participation in festival events scheduled across the city. Raimondo also noted civic contributions from Filipino Americans in health care, business and education.
