District schedules full-scale safety drill and readies school-zone signs before term start

Superintendent (Smollett) said the district will conduct a full-scale safety drill in accordance with state requirements and that school-zone signs for County Road S will be installed before school opens; a safety meeting with the SRO is set for August 12.
Speaker Smollett told the board the district will conduct a full-scale safety drill this school year in accordance with state requirements and announced a safety meeting with administrative staff and the school resource officer on August 12 to plan the exercise.
"This school year, we'll be conducting a full scale safety drill in accordance with state requirements... Our administrative team and deputy Mike, our SRO, will be having a safety meeting on August 12," Smollett said. He also reported that new school zone signs for County Road S have arrived and will be installed before school begins to slow traffic at a key intersection.
The board welcomed the safety planning and expressed appreciation for the custodial and administrative work preparing buildings and procedures. Administration will coordinate details of the drill and public notifications with the SRO and building leadership.
