Bill would delay required buyer-agency agreement until after offer is submitted

Rob Pillow of the Mississippi Association of Realtors told the committee that Senate Bill 2713 would move the timing of a required buyer-agency agreement from before a property is shown to before an offer is submitted. Pillow said the change responds to a 2024 National Association of Realtors settlement and to concerns that requiring agreements before showings can lock consumers into contracts too early in their search process.
Committee members had no substantive objections on the record and the committee advanced the bill on a committee-substitute voice vote.
