District staff told trustees that the building project is progressing ahead of schedule and that they are finalizing inventories and soft-cost orders. The chair said bids for the Edwards Sport building were due the Friday before the next board meeting and that bids will be opened at the next meeting for review.
Contractors on the pre-bid walk raised questions about asbestos removal, foundation removal and parking-lot demolition; staff reminded the board these elements were included in the bid documents and that there may be additional outside costs related to plumbing because of insufficient fall/grade. The board was informed the bids would likely be taken under advisement at the meeting when opened and not awarded that same evening.
