"Atkins does so much for us, but 81 teams is a lot to juggle and he does it and he does it well," the presenter said while praising the athletic director's coordination of teams and buses. The unified programs received special attention: the district called itself a "national unified high school" for combining unified sports, academics and co-curricular activities, and staff said athletes and partners will attend the Special Olympics national competition.
Staff offered to provide a single consolidated end-of-year report for the board (rather than piecemeal updates), noting that a fuller report will include spring sports and complete rostering and be delivered after July 1. The board accepted the offer and asked for the consolidated report and suggested the district circulate it with adequate lead time prior to meetings.
