City staff informed the council about competitive grant opportunities the city plans to pursue. Brian said the city will apply for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) opportunity up to $1 million intended for sidewalks, street lighting and greenspace, and a separate housing rehabilitation grant for homeowner-occupied properties up to $850,000; the county has contributed $6,000 toward a county-partnered housing rehabilitation program (HRAP) that complements city plans.
Council took the update and directed staff to proceed with applications; no city cash commitment was requested at the meeting for the CDBG application. Staff also reported an update that contractors were issued a new 10-day EPA notice delaying demolition work at 342 West 8 while compliance paperwork is completed.
