The Village of Maple Bluff approved improvements to Johnson Park on Tuesday that include replacing the asphalt path adjacent to Bayside Drive with concrete, refreshing landscaping and mulch, inserting grass in selected areas, and installing benches facing the park.
Parks, Recreation & Municipal Services Director Mark Benish said the existing sidewalk is beyond its useful life and estimated the total project cost at just under $36,000. Benish told trustees the landscaping work would be completed by public works and that concrete flatwork would be contracted to a local firm. A resident offered an anonymous donation to fully fund the project; the board approved the plan unanimously.
