Board confirms registration, open house and first-day dates for fall term

The Jefferson City school board heard a schedule update from Superintendent McGraw outlining registration and open-house dates ahead of the new school year. He said registration for middle and high schools will occur Wednesday, Aug. 5, elementary registration on Thursday, Aug. 6, and open houses on Thursday, Aug. 13 and during the week of Aug. 19 for specific grades. McGraw listed Jefferson City Early Childhood Center events and said the district opening session is set for Aug. 21, with classes beginning Monday, Aug. 24.
McGraw asked board members to note that the district planned for an extra week because of Labor Day timing and that administrators and custodial staff are preparing for the start; he said school teams and volunteers will assist where needed. The board recorded these dates for the calendar and scheduled the next regular board meeting for Aug. 27 at 6 p.m.
