"What we are asking from the city council is to approve the new vehicle and equipment procedure, policy guidelines in which, the state legislation has raised the formal bidding threshold from 30,000 to 90,000," a staff speaker said. Council moved to repeal the old policy and adopt the new purchasing procedure and approved the change by roll call.
Council and staff noted remaining thresholds for written quotes and informal quotes under smaller amounts and emphasized that the revised policy is intended to reduce administrative inefficiency for routine higher-cost purchases.
