The Chadron City Council approved change order #2 for Paul Reed Construction to address a bank-stabilization issue on the Stockade Road improvement project.
Public works staff explained that the change order added a stabilization mat that has already been installed and that staff expect seeded vegetation to grow through the mat. "This change order for Paul Reed Construction is basically, mat to stabilize that bank, and it's been installed," a city staff speaker said, adding that the state has agreed to reimburse the city for the project costs with the city remaining responsible for street lighting. Council moved, seconded and approved the change order by roll call.
Staff said the measure should address the immediate bank stability concerns and that routine contractor watering and vegetation growth will follow. No opposition was recorded on the motion.
