The Chadron City Council approved a retail class C (on- and off-sale) beer, wine and spirits liquor license for Mohawk Sports Bar LLC, 950 West Highway 20, following an applicant presentation and questions from council members.
Applicant Travis Muir introduced himself and his wife and described a menu that will include breakfast, lunch and dinner, a homemade-pizza program, hand-cut rib-eyes and a small arcade area for children. "We're...hopefully, we'll be up and going in 3 weeks," Muir said, adding the business expects to hire about "35, 36" part- and full-time staff. Council members asked about off-sale operations tied to college events and whether local processors would supply meat; Muir said most beef will come from Nebraska and that the business is pursuing competitive pricing with local suppliers.
Mayor and staff opened and closed the public hearing before taking a vote. Resolution 20-26-59 to approve the Mohawk Sports Bar liquor license was moved, seconded and adopted by roll call with all members voting yes. The council did not attach additional conditions during the vote. The applicants were thanked and the mayor noted the council looks forward to their opening.
