SAU leaders weigh AI risks, conference takeaways and propose SAU-wide retreat

"There are definitely concerns and there are definitely dangers," the presenter said of AI, "but I don't want to say we should never use this." The presenter also described a 'dignity index' resource and suggested bringing it into SAU training to improve meeting communication and reduce inflammatory exchanges. Participants discussed using Title II funds or other professional-development resources to send more staff to conferences and proposed an SAU-wide retreat to share best practices and improve district storytelling.
The advisory asked staff to consider an early-adopter retreat model and to explore state association membership approaches that could broaden access for the SAU's smaller districts. Staff also noted new partnerships (e.g., Safer Schools Together) and said they would share slide decks and materials with member boards.
