SAU 29 advisory members on March 25 reviewed plans to use a new online evaluation platform for the superintendent that staff said will run in five steps and generate a public summary when completed. The presenter said the tool is intended to replace some patchwork paper processes and make evaluation artifacts easier to access.
The presenter described step one as entering goals and said step two is the superintendent's self-evaluation. "It runs basically in five steps," the presenter said, and staff outlined a process in which advisory board chairs meet to calibrate scores before staff finalize the results. Board members raised an immediate implementation question: the training contact provided conflicting information on whether the SAU purchased seven shared seats or 33 individual logins. Staff said they will confirm the purchase; if only seven seats were purchased, the SAU will follow the board-chair group workflow the advisory used previously.
Members also discussed where artifacts and rubrics will live and how widely to share them. The presenter said the platform will "make a summary document which will be immediately available to the public," but recommended redacting town-level identifiers from any final public report while allowing chairs to see identifiable responses during internal deliberations. The group set a working target for completing the evaluation timeline by May 1, so boards can begin inputting ratings and convene a group walkthrough to finalize results.
