Public commenter Courtney says La Crosse School District is losing experienced staff

She told the board the Longfellow coaching position that followed her role remains unfilled, and that the school will now be hiring its third coach in five years.
Courtney said she had applied for jobs outside Wisconsin after becoming disillusioned with district personnel practices, and that Madison schools had been willing to interview and hire staff into elementary coaching roles without additional licensure. She asked the board to "ask some questions about the practices of our upper level administration and HR teams" to address retention.
The board did not respond to take action during the public comment period. The speaker followed the board's rules about time and disclosure and identified her district residency at the start of her remarks.
