The Town Board of Shamrock Lakes voted Nov. 20 to activate an online bill-pay service following two months of testing in October and November.
Board members reported higher participation in November, and discussion centered on timing of deposits and a small processing fee charged to users. A board member said the processing charge on a typical $58 bill was “about a dollar 73,” and staff recommended telling residents to allow up to four to five days for payments to post to the town’s accounts because most transactions post the next day but occasional midweek payments showed a delay.
The board reviewed a draft web page with a link to the payment portal and suggested adding frequently asked questions (for example, whether residents can pay multiple months or prepay a full year). A motion to make the online bill-pay service active for all accounts was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The board noted the service imposes the fee on users but does not create a direct fee for the town.
