The La Crosse Board of Education on Sept. 9 moved into a closed session under Wisconsin Statute section 19.85 to consider administration's recommendation to issue a conditional enrollment order.
A board member made a motion to convene the closed session citing the statutory provision for meetings that involve reputations, histories or investigations of persons; the motion was seconded and carried by roll-call vote. The board met in closed session in room 209 and later reconvened in open session.
The authority cited on the record was “Wisconsin statute section 19.85,” which the board invoked as the legal basis for the closed deliberation. After returning to open session the board proceeded to act on the matter that had been discussed in closed session.
