The West Point City Council approved Resolution 2026-27 to place a proposed continuation of the 1/2% sales-and-use tax (the LB840 program) on the upcoming general-election ballot. Staff recommended placing the question on the general-election ballot rather than holding a separate special election to save costs and to meet statutory timing for collections; staff noted statutory references for the enabling authority. A councilmember asked whether the question would be a two-part ballot question; staff confirmed it will follow the same structure as the original program, with updated numbers where appropriate. Council made a motion to place the question on the ballot and adopted Resolution 2026-27.
