Board approves low bids for CTE equipment and furniture; purchases to be prioritized

Staff presented tab J — a detailed list of CTE equipment and furniture bids — and asked the board to approve the low bidders as the vendors of record. Reported vendor totals included Educational Furniture at about $276,000; Meteor Education at about $125,000; Air Gas at about $161,000; Anage (for a 3D anatomy table) at about $110,000; and Reality Works at about $20,000. The Chair told the board the total for items bid was well under the $693,879 budget and asked for approval of the low bids.
The board approved the low-bid vendors by voice vote. Staff cautioned the board that approving the vendors does not obligate the district to purchase every item immediately: “I am not going to guarantee you that everything here will be bought,” the Chair said, adding that purchases will follow need and budget availability. Staff also noted rebates available from some vendors for returning old equipment.
The board directed staff to proceed with vendor contracts for items purchased and to bring purchase approvals as needed. The action keeps procurement aligned with CTE program goals while allowing phased purchases based on classroom priorities and remaining budget.
