Keene Board honors 10 exceptional teachers and more than 300 years of retiree service

At its June 2 meeting the Keene School District Board of Education recognized 10Exceptional Teachers drawn from nominations across the district and honored retirees representing over three centuries of service. Officials said 150 nominations were received and winners each had multiple nominations.
The Keene School District Board of Education opened its June 2 meeting by recognizing 10 educators nominated by students, families and colleagues for the district’s 2026 Exceptional Teacher awards. Board Chair Rob Malay noted the volume of nominations and the range of roles represented from preschool to high school career and technical programs.
“This evening, we want to make sure those efforts are recognized,” the board chair said as the board read sample nomination comments praising classroom connections and the impact on student confidence. Trustees noted that the district received roughly 150 nominations and that each awardee had at least three nominations. Honorees identified in the meeting included Jennifer Antoshevitz, David Show, Michael Payon, Alyssa Massialo, Emma Wyman, Melanie Bradford, Rebecca Lazaro, Joseph Conti, Monica Foley and Daniel Petit.
The board then recognized district retirees and asked building principals to present brief career highlights. Administrators said the retiree cohort represents more than three centuries of combined service to the Keene School District and spotlighted long tenures and leadership contributions at multiple schools. Franklin School principals highlighted Nancy Elliott’s behavior-management leadership and Lisa Neary’s 40 years of service; the Cheshire Career Center honored Dean Jewell’s 34 years as a drafting and design teacher and Cheryl Lamoureux’s 25 years spanning tutor, para and teacher roles.
Board members and administrators thanked honorees and retirees for long service and noted group photos and slides were planned to mark the recognition.
