Gregory to repeal Ordinance 2021-02 and offer one-time municipal tax rebate to Grandview homeowners

The Gregory City Council approved first reading of a repeal of Ordinance 2021-02 and agreed to offer a one-time municipal tax rebate to qualifying Grandview homeowners. City Attorney Amy Bartling told the council that the state discretionary formula has changed and that the local Discretionary Formula in Ordinance 2021-02 was rendered void; she said the discretionary formula targeted affordable housing and would not have applied to Grandview homes because their values exceed the affordability threshold.
Bartling also proposed a municipal rebate equal to the first year of municipal taxes for Grandview homes constructed in the 2022 and 2023 tax years. Ashley Lozano moved to offer the rebate and Guhner Kepler seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
