City manager reports sales tax uptick, $250,000 grant for comprehensive plan and personnel updates

McNabb told commissioners the city received a $250,000 grant from the Texas General Land Office to update a 26‑year‑old comprehensive plan; staff estimated a local match of about $40,000.
McNabb also updated commissioners on personnel changes: a new police lieutenant (Lieutenant Turner) sworn in, a new officer Wendell Smith added to the force, four recruits graduating at Vernon College Academy, and the new street superintendent (Brian Archer) and assistant (Michael Blevins) starting work. She reported the water town hall had over 50 residents and that monthly operating reports will be posted online to increase public access to information.
