Staff presented a BDC budget amendment that reallocates line items within the corporation’s existing budget to increase the special projects allocation by $75,800 to cover expenses tied to the Wheels of Wonder Museum (consultants, inventory cataloging, truck‑related expenses and project supplies). The presenter noted the BDC Board of Directors approved the amendment at its June 5 meeting and that the amendment does not increase the corporation’s overall adopted budget.
Travis Haggard, BDC director, answered questions about project costs and noted inventory and storage challenges: 38 pallets of the collection are in temporary storage and staff are awaiting insurance resolution and a permanent display location. Commissioners asked staff to provide a full accounting of expenditures for the project to date; one commissioner requested the total cost from inception to date and staff said they would assemble those figures. The amendment passed unanimously.
