The presenter sketched a multi-site athletic upgrade program, including replacing dugouts at Shelby/Logan, resurfacing and sanding gym floors, replacing scoreboards and backboards, and improving athletic fields and parking at Central.
Staff said the district often seeks partner contributions for athletic work and noted one partner (TC) will contribute about $20,000 toward a Logan dugout project. The presenter said gym-floor sanding must be scheduled during windows when gyms are not in use and mentioned a $624,000 line item related to basketball-structure and gym facility work as a district capital amount.
Board members discussed phasing and site location questions; staff said dugouts in question are in a separate yard east of prior bleacher work. The district also described possible phased track expansion to nine lanes at Logan to enable regional track meets; lighting was installed with future expansion in mind.
