La Crosse School District board reorganizes, elects officers for 2026–27

The La Crosse School District board opened its meeting with roll call and certified the April 7, 2026 canvassers report before administering oaths to newly elected members.
Dr. Meredith Garcia administered the oath of office to the new members; during the oath they each recited the traditional pledge, including the line, “I affirm that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Wisconsin,” which the new members repeated.
The board then proceeded to its reorganization. Trevor was nominated, and after nominations were closed, the board cast a unanimous vote electing him school district president. The vice president contest was conducted by secret ballot because the office had multiple nominees; Dr. Meredith Garcia received five votes to Jim Begnvki’s three and was elected vice president.
Other officer elections followed: Molly Fuks was elected clerk, Tim Alberts was elected treasurer, and Laura Stigerwald was reappointed board secretary and deputy clerk. Each of those positions was filled by voice vote after nominations were closed.
The board’s reorganizational votes and oath-taking followed routine procedural steps; members congratulated the newly sworn members before moving to committee and representative appointments.
